Cryospots

Compression Therapy in the UK

Pneumatic compression in the UK lives mostly in two contexts: sports physio practices and private rehab clinics (where the boots have been standard since the 2010s), and as add-ons in boutique recovery centers that bundle them with cryo, IR sauna or massage. Equipment is dominated by Normatec and RecoveryPump, with smaller contributions from Therabody Pro and the UK-engineered Pneumex.

Pricing: £15–25 as add-on to other modalities, £20–35 standalone. Memberships within larger Recovery Lounge concepts often include unlimited compression as a low-marginal-cost feature.

Clinical use cases: post-exercise recovery and lymphatic drainage have the strongest evidence (Hill 2014, Cranston 2020). UK physios sometimes prescribe compression for travel-induced leg edema and post-surgical lymphedema, alongside compression garments. Don't expect the boots to do what aggressive marketing sometimes implies (cellulite reduction, weight loss); the literature doesn't support those claims.
